Research & Development
Every König chain is fully developed internally and follows two key drivers: to be one step ahead in innovation and to create products that are always easier to use.
DesignThe design of each individual component takes the stress they will be submitted to while in use, easy handling for the user and, last but not least, aesthetics into consideration.
Warranty & Claims StudiesOur products are designed to last, which is why we closely monitor warranties and claims. Our warranty claims specialists review user issues as well as any kind of claims that involve property loss or damage to determine which issues currently need attention and which have been resolved. They also monitor the feedback in order to gain insight on how to make instructions and designs more user-friendly.
Proactive ApproachBecause everything we do is based around making life easier, we make sure all aspects of production work together. Beginning with design, every step of the process receives the same high degree of attention by dedicated experts. Our innovations and designs go through research and development, and fitting and testing to make sure we are delivering the safest, most durable snow chain that makes your life easier.

Testing
Microhardness and metallographic test are performed daily in König test center to analyze the quality of raw materials and the effectiveness of treatments on the chains.
Microhardness testThe chain links are cut and embedded in a particular resin. Using an electronic microdurometer we make a test every tenth of a millimeter of depth, starting from the outer surface of the link and moving towards the core. This will verify that the values of surface hardness, core hardness and hardening depth are within the strict internal parameters as well as the homologation requests, condition that ensures long life of the chain.
Metallographic testWith the use of sophisticated microscopes, the steel structures is enlarged up to 1000 times. In this way we can recognize the various structures of the steel as a result of heat treatment and to identify possible defects in the starting raw material.

Snow chain certifications
König demonstrates that each snow chain with product certification adheres to the international standard. In order to verify the quality of our snow chains, an independent certification body (TÜV) performs extensive laboratory and field testing with cars on ice and snow. These tests confirm the highest level of quality for König snow chains.
UNI 11313 Simulates the worst towing conditions over a vehicle's lifetime.
Ö-Norm V 5119Mark shown on a product that conforms to a very strict Austrian standard (Ö-Norm V 5119). It is also used by “TÜV product service” for snow chains on vehicles such as trucks, buses and medium weight trucks. As early as 1995, König wanted its products in this segment to meet the requirements of the standard in order to confirm their quality and meet the needs of increasingly demanding customers.
Ö-Norm V 5117 -Mark shown on a type–tested product that demonstrates conformity of the product to the Austrian standard (Ö-Norm V 5117) for car snow chains. As early as 1995, König wanted its products to be type-tested according to this standard, which is based on very rigid parameters that must be passed.

Company Certifications
Quality is the most important aspect for König. For this reason, our factory has had a certified quality-assurance system that adheres to ISO 9001 in place since 1999. The certification helps us continuously improve our process and products, and guarantees elevated standards for our snow chains.
ISO 9001TÜV is the international certification body that annually verifies our quality system (ISO 9001) and audits all our processes. TÜV also verifies our products (they do a simultaneous audit for product and system).
